The days when your video player was as big as your car are long gone, and now technology has improved so much that you even can watch films and TV clips from your mobile phone.
Due to the memory constraints of cellphones it's usually pretty difficult to fit on anything more than a few minutes long. Not with Mobile Media Maker, though, because the program is designed to convert your movies into mobile-friendly files for viewing on your Motorola device.
You can use it to rip your DVDs or convert movie files from a range of formats, including AVI, MPG, FLV and WMV (there's no support for MOV files, unfortunately). This is all done via a very straightforward wizard-driven user interface. All you need to do is browse to a file on your hard drive, or select a DVD disc and click 'Action'. Mobile Media Maker then processes the conversion very quickly. If you want, you can play around with a few advanced options before you convert, such as choosing viewing format (normal, widescreen, cinemascope), displaying the whole picture or zooming in, or optimizing the sound or the picture.
There's a clear preview display, where you can select your model from the range of Motorola handsets and watch the video on it. Sadly, the developer has neglected to include any playback controls here, so you have to watch the clip play out.
There are some other neat features thrown into Mobile Media Maker, such as a YouTube downloader and a tool where you can set the size of your device's memory and the program will automatically optimize the conversion based on this.
If you're looking for a fast and simple way to watch movies on your phone, this is a great solution for Motorola users.
